A 100% ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY RESORT
We stayed at Castelfalfi for few days in August and, apart the impeccable service and the simply beautiful golf courses, what drew our attention were some details regarding the environmental sustainability of the entire resort.
Being curious to know, we asked the management to tell us something about this particular aspect of the resort, very important to highlight considering the positive impact it could have on many people who very often choose the destination of their holidays on the standard of the environmental sustainability.
What follows is a brief summary of the great care the property put, and still putting, in honouring this commtment.
TOSCANA RESORT CASTELFALFI
Toscana Resort Castelfalfi is a medieval village carefully restored to maintain its original character and to welcome guests looking for an authentic Tuscan experience. It is an area that covers more than 1,000 hectares divided into entire ancient village, vineyards, olive groves, forests, lakes and a wildlife reserve; in addition to two hotels, many villas and the largest Tuscan golf course.

Sustainable Luxury

Each building in the Estate is restored or constructed according to green building principles: using traditional materials such as wood and stone. This is the same concept of the five-star hotel Il Castelfalfi – TUI BLUE SELETION that aims to promote a philosophy of holistic wellbeing, guaranteeing benefits in terms of physical and environmental health.

A "Clima Hotel" - allowing for a healthy microclimate without dust - energy efficient, with low CO2 emissions, a high level of interior comfort thanks to the use of materials with low environmental impact, which are recyclable and come from a short supply chain. In addition, a low heat exchange between interior and exterior is achieved using materials providing a high degree of thermal insulation.

The five-star hotel is designed with great attention to energy efficiency and waste management: the installation of water filtration system to recycle waste water, a bio-filter that allows for the complete recovery of food waste, the sorting of collected waste, and the selection of low emission LED lighting, are all measures that enhance the hotel's philosophy.
In addition, thanks to innovative online software, the Environmental Management System, it is always possible to monitor the structure's environmental footprint, identifying any critical points that may be encountered.

Golf in support of Nature

The Golf Club Castelfalfi has always been committed to promoting a more sustainable and this commitment is enhanced by the participation to the program OnCourse® by Golf Environment Organization, an international not-for-profit institution founded to help the global golf community embracing sustainability and social responsibility for the environment. The program consists in demonstrating the fair consumptions and the use of the energy resources and water. Just as Tuscany Resort Castelfalfi takes care of its environment, also the Club is constantly committed to the enhancement and careful management of water resources, recycling and the development of renewable energy. Golf Club Castelfalfi is working to receive the certification GEO CertifiedTM, golf’s international eco-label and symbol of great golf environments worldwide.
In the resort, there are two properties: IL CASTELFALFI, a 5-star deluxe hotel with 120 rooms, and LA TABACCAIA, a tiny 4-star hotel with only 31 rooms.
